Mining update

Well, excitement never ceases. I thought I’d give you a mining update.

Home Mining Rig

Currently I just have a Butterfly Labs ASIC miner about 7GH and a small USB one about 300MHS, it’s worthwhile running because the computer is on 24/7 because of my forex trading robot (STROBOT III), but to be honest, I think the ASIC miner would be more use as a paperweight. The amount it mines is pretty low. I was using slush pool to start with but I’m now using Bitminter. I’m showing a gauge with my current hashing rate in GH/s

Online Mining

Bitminer

This one is by far the most profitable for the investment, it’s a simple interface and offers free mining – At the moment I’m recommending this although I’ve not taken anything out of it. I’m planning to upgrade to the next level ASAP. LINK

Bitminer is a very very simple way to do mining that doesn’t go into GH’s or PH’s but simply tells you how much you’ll make per investment.

Splitit Mining

Next is Splitit Mining which has a very nice interface and VERY good technical support. I’m running about 1700 GH there but it’s slow. Reliable, but slow… however I’ve got it on “auto investment” so that means when it get’s enough profit to buy more mining capacity it automatically builds it up. LINK

Miner Gate

This one has an application you download and you get rewards, it’s advantage is that it mines lots of different crypto currencies at once so giving you the maximum money for the maximum mining, you can then transfer it all into Bitcoins if required.  LINK

I’m starting to test out a few others – my recommendation is you don’t put all your Bitcoins in one basket! 🙂 So basically spread investment across different platforms.

Other Excitement!

Oh and yesterday I ordered a debit card from Spectrocoins – I used the Bitcoins that my friend paid me for Pizza the other night 🙂 This means if I take money out I can just pop it onto the debit card, go to the shop and buy as much cheesecake as I like!

So I’m pretty pleased with the way it’s going as I’m on a limited budget. (that’s why I like donations!). It’s nice being part of something that, in fact, although it has been used for bad things is actually in itself very honest and good, that’s because the need for trust is removed from the currency.
