Corporate Bitcoin Buyers Resume: Strategy, Strive Dominate Institutional Surge

Institutional Conviction Against Retail Selling Pressure

Strive announced on October 13, 2026, that it purchased 3,311 bitcoin at an average price of approximately $84,500 per bitcoin from October 5–9. The purchase reflects aggressive accumulation among the largest institutional Bitcoin holders, despite price weakness in mid-October.

This follows a broader trend: according to Crypto Briefing, businesses added 193,000 BTC in 2026, but Strategy and Strive added 197,000 BTC combined, meaning Strategy and Strive accounted for more than the sector’s net increase while all other bitcoin treasury companies combined added just 8,000 BTC. The concentration reveals that corporate Bitcoin adoption is not broad—it is driven by two firms with conviction.

Strategy now holds 848,000 BTC, representing the world’s largest Bitcoin treasury company. Its continued buying throughout market corrections suggests long-term commitment rather than tactical positioning.

What This Means for UK Traders

Institutional buying patterns matter to retail investors. When large corporate holders accumulate aggressively, they typically:

  • Signal confidence in long-term value, which can stabilise markets during correction phases
  • Reduce available supply to the open market, creating upward pressure once retail sentiment recovers
  • Form a “floor” under price, as these firms rarely panic-sell during downturns

According to Crypto Briefing, over the same 2026 stretch, individuals were net sellers of 93,000 BTC, offsetting some of the institutional gains. UK traders reading market flows should watch whether this divergence continues or reverses as Q4 approaches.

The Bigger Picture

Bitcoin Treasuries shows that corporate treasury Bitcoin is now a recognised asset class with dedicated teams and multi-year strategies. Large public companies hold Bitcoin on their balance sheets as part of long-term capital allocation decisions.

For retail investors, the message is clear: large institutional buyers are buying into the weakness, not selling. Their actions suggest they view current price levels as an opportunity to accumulate for the long term, regardless of near-term market noise.
