Mark Carney – Bitcoin has failed as a currency

I just bought a phone with Bitcoin.

Mark Carney is in charge of the Bank of England, responsible for the UK Pound. He has failed to understand what a currency is.

  • A currency is a store of value – Bitcoin achieves that
  • A currency is a facilitator of trade – Bitcoin does that

So why is Mark Carney, someone who should know all about currency being so blatantly wrong?

Firstly, he runs a bank, a big bank, and he’s running scared, he knows that if crypto takes off the bank’s days will be numbered. Who will have need of banks if they can store their own value outside of the bank?

Secondly, I expect he missed the Bitcoin rally of the last few weeks and is fed up with himself. He needs to protect his job and anything that threatens it, Bitcoin included needs to be destroyed.

Or perhaps he’s just jealous that the people are taking back control of their own money.
