SegWit finally goes live.

Well, it’s been a fight, but efforts to unblock the blockchain with segregated witness go finally live today.

  • It rearranges how data is stored in bitcoin blocks.
  • It boosts capacity while remaining compatible with past versions of the software.
  • It removes transaction malleability, a bug that’s been the primary roadblock for many bitcoin projects.

Coinbase has said they are not doing BTC transfers at the moment and Love and Design are not taking Bitcoin until tomorrow :-).

Exciting times for Bitcoin – I expect a rise in the price of Bitcoin when the Segwit is complete.
