So it’s my daughter’s Birthday and she wanted a new phone (don’t tell her, it’s a surprise), so today I ordered a shiny iPhone 7 from CEX which is a retail store in the United Kingdom, however just as I hit send the Blockchain slowed down and the payment timed out before it went through. About 10 minutes later the payment cleared. So CEX have my bitcoin…. and I have the blockchain confirmation – so I tried their support which was an online form and sent through all the details of the transaction. Then I messaged them on their Facebook page, the little green on and off light showing they are online flickered helplessly. So far, nothing. It’s been a few hours.

So, in fact, they also have the order number as well and everything else.

I got an email back from “WeCare”, it’s automatically generated which to me means they don’t care.

Now – ok I’m lucky because I have a huge blog here – one word from me and people will not be using Bitcoin with them at all… after all, I do get around 2000 unique sessions a day (on average, just sayin’).

10:00 So far nothing – watch this space for any kind of response. But 15 minutes timeout on a Bitcoin transaction is much to short. They need it to be about an hour.

Overnight – I raised a ticket on RESOLVER – I’ve used this site before with success and got this response:-

No order has been placed because the Bitcoin transfer timed out before you got it!!!

It took 2 days but my money has been refunded!!!! So it’s safe in my experience to buy with Bitcoin from CEX. But make sure you pay a higher transaction fee to ensure your payment goes through.

If it goes wrong use Resolver because the other methods did not get as fast a response.
